Building upon the Royal Project Model, the Highland Research and Development Institute (Public Organization) (HRDI) works with communities and partners to promote sustainable development that balances economic opportunity, social well-being, and environmental stewardship. By integrating research, innovation, local knowledge, and community participation, HRDI develops practical solutions that improve livelihoods while protecting the natural resources on which communities depend.

Highland communities are increasingly affected by climate change. HRDI supports climate adaptation through climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem-based approaches, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable resource management that strengthen resilience while safeguarding livelihoods.
