Our Partnerships

Sustainable highland development requires coordinated action across multiple sectors. As Thailand's leading public organisation dedicated to sustainable highland development, the Highland Research and Development Institute (Public Organization) (HRDI) serves as a coordinating organization that brings together government agencies, Local Administrative Organizations (LAOs), academic and research institutions, civil society organisations, the private sector, and highland communities to deliver integrated and sustainable development.

HRDI works closely with its partners to promote integrated planning, align policies and development strategies, and coordinate the implementation of programmes and projects across sectors. By combining knowledge, technical expertise, resources, and local participation, HRDI helps ensure that development initiatives respond effectively to local needs while supporting sustainable natural resource management, resilient livelihoods, and improved quality of life for highland communities.

Recognising the important role of local governments in sustaining development outcomes, HRDI strengthens the capacity of Local Administrative Organizations (LAOs) through technical support, knowledge transfer, and collaborative planning. This enables local institutions to continue and expand development initiatives that are tailored to local contexts and aligned with national development priorities.

Beyond its work in Thailand, HRDI collaborates with international organisations, governments, research institutions, and development partners to promote knowledge exchange, collaborative research, capacity development, and technical cooperation. In support of the Royal Project Foundation, HRDI works jointly with national and international partners to share Thailand's experience in sustainable highland development based on the Royal Project Model, thereby contributing to international cooperation and sustainable development efforts.

Through its long-standing partnership with the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), HRDI has contributed technical expertise to development cooperation programmes that strengthen sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, and community development in partner countries. These collaborative efforts encourage mutual learning, strengthen local capacity, and develop sustainable solutions that can be adapted to different geographical and socio-economic contexts.

Through strong partnerships at local, national, and international levels, HRDI transforms knowledge into practical action, creating lasting benefits for people, communities, and the environment while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
