Our Mission

HRDI promotes and supports research and sustainable highland development in line with the vision of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and the Royal Oath of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua.

Promote research and innovation that strengthen the Royal Project as a centre of excellence for sustainable highland development and foster national and international research collaboration.

Apply and extend the successful approaches of the Royal Project to improve livelihoods, strengthen communities, and promote environmentally sustainable development throughout Thailand's highlands.

Promote Learning and Public Engagement

Develop Royal Park Rajapruek as a national learning centre for agriculture, biodiversity, the Royal Initiatives, sustainable highland development, and environmental conservation.

Strengthen Organisational Excellence

Enhance organisational capability through effective governance, digital transformation, human resource development, and modern management systems, ensuring efficient and sustainable public services.

Our Mandate

Established by Royal Decree in 2005, HRDI is entrusted with promoting research and sustainable development in Thailand's highlands by building upon the achievements of the Royal Project.

The Institute serves as Thailand's principal public organisation responsible for integrating research, innovation, knowledge management, and community development to support sustainable highland development.

HRDI's core responsibilities include:

Conducting and supporting research for sustainable highland development.
Applying and expanding the Royal Project Model in highland communities.
Promoting innovation, knowledge management, and technology transfer.
Conserving natural resources, biodiversity, and watershed ecosystems.
Managing and developing Royal Park Rajapruek as a national centre for learning and environmental education.
Strengthening collaboration with government agencies, academic institutions, local communities, the private sector, civil society organisations, and international partners.
